Rihanna’s Fenty X Puma Show At the NYFW Was Totally The Life Of The Party!
Just when we get to around the middle of the New York Fashion Week is the time we all crave for a little something out of the box. Just some more excitement or that slight adrenaline rush rather than the regular line of supermodels walking down the runway. And guess who it was that brought about this excitement this time?
It was none other than our favorite singer Rihanna with her iconic Fenty X Puma collection.
We saw a number of awesome styles and breath-taking beauties up until now. But Rihanna’s collection was completely different. It was more of an action packed one with all her latest beautiful designs. There were daredevil stunts, motocross bikes and giant pink sand dunes. Anyone who entered the Park Avenue armoury on that Sunday evening would be spell bound by the 20 feet high punk sands glowing under the hot and bright flood lights.
In a little while, as the anticipation got high and the viewers were waiting with bated breath for the first model to strut down the runway, there was a familiar rev of an engine coming from backstage and in no time there was the very first motocross stuntman entering the stage.
After that it was a spree of excitement and stunts and not to mention some of the best fashion moments in the history of the NYFW. The people hardly ever got a chance to check their phones or capture anything for their Instagram.
Coming to the Fenty X Puma collection, it was just as much refreshingly new and exciting as the show itself and it definitely made a strong impact. It was one that combined surf and motocross elements in an impressive athleisure range. The highlight of the collection was the sexy and statement making neon color palette cleverly chosen by Rihanna. And the materials she chose further enhanced the colors with shiny nylons and other patent materials. There were also more natural and neutral hues like army green and Navy.
The menswear collection on the other hand was all about over-sized everything. It had everything from baggy cargo pants to hoodies and anoraks. And the accessories varied from buckles to industrial straps to more streamlined and organized zippers.
Another interesting aspect about the collection was how Rihanna cleverly balanced out certain seemingly overtly edgy proportions with subtle elements like skin-tight scuba shorts and some signature outfits of Fenty X Puma like chunky creepers or work wear boots.
Some other interesting accessories used were an oversized waist pack and neon rimmed riding glasses.
Now that is perfectly in line with the current trends of sportswear and athleisure and at the same time differently wonderful.
Hats off to Rihanna for such a legendary show this year.
